How to choose the right Ethernet extender for your business?
|

We recently ran into an issue with our office network setup. We moved part of our team to a new section of the building, and suddenly, the Ethernet connections didn’t reach far enough. Wi-Fi wasn’t a great solution either because the walls were too thick, and we had constant drops. Now we’re looking into Ethernet extenders, but I have no idea what factors to consider. Do they all work the same way, or are there big differences? I’d love to hear from anyone who’s dealt with this before—what should I look out for?

Yeah, I had a similar problem when we expanded our shop floor. Wireless was too unreliable, so we went with a wired connection. The key thing I learned is that not all extenders handle long distances well. If you’re running a ong ethernet cable https://enableit.com/how-long-can-an-ethernet-cable-be/ , you need to check if the extender supports the distance you need without losing speed or signal quality. Some are great for short extensions, but if you're dealing with hundreds of feet, you’ll want one designed for that. Also, make sure the extender matches your speed requirements—some top out at 100 Mbps, while others can handle Gigabit speeds.
